3.5 stars. I haven't read the others in the series, and mostly that was fine. I could tell that readers probably knew a couple characters from another book, but it didn't confuse this story at all not knowing the background of the other characters. Which I appreciated. Sometimes the cover says they're stand alone stories, but you feel like you're missing out on all the inside jokes and whatnot. Not with this one. Anyway, the actual romance in this story was super cute. The straight-laced, type A athlete and the quirky, free-spirited creative was done well. I loved her embroidery, and really wanted to see some of it. Her whole family dynamic was beautifully done, really, her brother, her mom, her dad--I loved them all. I enjoyed his friends, but thought his family could've been more...fleshed out? I struggled with his family dynamics. It vacillated oddly. Their relationship was super sweet though with lots of cute moments, several really funny moments, and a few steamy-ish moments. I enjoyed it.
The Perfectly Imperfect Match by Kendra C. Highly.....Another fantastic book that kept me flipping pages. I loved seeing the story play out for Lucy and Dylan. This story was sweet and perfect, this author does a great job keeping us engrossed. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book from publisher via NetGalley.
Purchased for my daughter, and she enjoyed it.
I haven’t read any of this series before, but I have already downloaded the others in the series. I just adored this sweet, charming book!Lucy is not your typical teenage girl. She’s passionate and free-spirited, yet incredibly responsible, helping out her mother and little brother while her father is away overseas in the military. She spends her time helping out her best friend and her family with their free-range chicken farm and doing needlework in her mother’s sewing shop. To me, she was a fresh of breath air who totally captivated me. It wasn’t long before she captivated straight-laced, put together, Dylan. The two meet when she is late dropping her younger brother, Otis, off to a baseball camp the high school baseball team is doing for the summer. She instantly knocks him off-kilter. He has sworn off girls after being hurt and has put all his focus on baseball and trying to get into the minors. He soon finds the only thing he can think about is Lucy. Lucy can see the hurt underneath his too put together façade.“She didn’t know who’d hurt him, but it was there, gasping for air. He needed to have his heart knit back together, whether he believed it or not. And she knew someone who was damn good with a needle.â€The two of them are complete opposites, but somehow they work! She brings some chaos and fun into his life, and he brings order to hers. There is some angst and drama and some things that might become obstacles to keep them apart.“For all their ‘opposites attract’ baggage, they were still alike in ways that counted. Enough so that things striving to keep them apart weren’t being all that successful.â€The romance is sweet with just enough sexual innuendos to make your heart skip a bit and feel butterflies in your stomach. The secondary characters, like their best friends and families, really add to the story. It’s refreshing to see teenagers who love their parents and whose parents love and support them. The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the perfect summer read for teens and adults.***Read and Reviewed on behalf of Once Upon an Alpha*******Copy provided in exchange for an honest and unbiased review****
The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the third book in the young adult contemporary romance series, called the Suttonville Senitels by Kendra C. Highley. I love that this series centers around the baseball team. It is a series formula that works so well with me, but before the Suttonville Sentiels I had only seen it done in the adult sports romance world, so I love that there is a young adult series that is doing something similar. I read and LOVED The Bad Boy Bargain and Swinging at Love, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. This series is a welcome smash hit for me! And The Perfectly Imperfect Match is a great addition to the series.Just like all of the previous books in this series, The Perfectly Imperfect Match is chock full of cuteness. That is the best way to describe it. It is like a smile in a box. All of the books in this series are actually. Perfectly Imperfect Match is the story of Dylan and Luck. I liked this couple a lot, but I still think Faith and Kyle were my favorite couple but I adored them so much that it is hard to come close. Dylan is super rigid with everything in his life. Watching him with Lucy was tons of fun for me. They were both so different. Their story had a bit of a slower start for me, character wise, than the previous two books in the series, but once I got to know them a little better I really enjoyed them. The Perfectly Imperfect Match is a quick, light and fluffy read. There is not too much in the way of drama or roadblocks. It was perfect for a pool read. I finished it in one quick afternoon. If you are looking for a book that has a little drama and more meat (in that direction) to its’ bones, this might not be the book for you, but if you are looking for a quick young adult romance that is super cute check out The Perfectly Imperfect Match and the Suttonville Sentinels series. I loved the mature, yet still age appropriate, characters featured in this extra cute romance.*Disclaimer- I was sent a copy of this book for free. I was not compensated for my thoughts.
